Lavender...

...is one of my most favoritist herbs around, and in case you are wondering if I need to go back and take English 101 again, I don't! I just like to say "favoritist." It should be a word :)

I love the way it looks. I love the way it smells, and I love the way it tastes. Not that I have ever really cooked or seasoned anything with it before, but the little flowerets are pretty yummy to chew on!
Trailboss had some beautimous pictures of winter wheat--again, "beautimous" is not a word, but it also should be!!!--which kind of looks like lavender, only it is wheat-colored, and dry, and does not grow anywhere near my house, and they inspired me to take these pictures of my lavender. See, isn't lavender pretty? Look at it...imagine the way it smells...inhale deeply...now say "ommmmmm." In this picture, you can just see the top corner of our empty woodshed. Empty woodsheds make mommy angry.......grrrrrrrr......but my hubby is off the hook because it is summer, and because at his dad's house, he has a ginormous--yet another word!!!--load of wood that is just waiting to make a trek over here to our woodshed.
It will be a mass exodus of firewood that travels about seven miles from his house to our house. Mass exoduses of firewood make mommy happy. Actually I HATE the wood stove, because it is messy, and dusty, and dirty, but it is free heat, so I can't really complain too much (lol!!!).
I need to figure out how to make the flowers that are closest to me not blurry. Any suggestions out there?
Well...I hope that you enjoyed your lavender moment. I need to go out and smell some right now :)

I'm a big fan of lavender too. Of course, it's the only thing that didn't make it in my paltry herb garden...figures! I just wish my husband liked the smell of it as much as I do.

For the pictures, I would try standing further away from them and then cropping the resulting picture later, to make the flowers bigger. What kind of camera do you have?

We used to have lavender and thyme growing wild in the hay fields in Tundra Country, and it smelled soooooo wonderful at haying time. (Hmmm wonder if that might by why my horses were so mellow? LOL)

Love the scent- brings back happy memories by the bale full there...
