The kids both started school yesterday, and while it was an exciting time, none of us looked forward to having to be awakened by the alarm clock. Both kids had a great first day, and I must admit that I did absolutely nothing yesterday except go to the gym.
Look at my little redneck in his Fox t-shirt!

The day before school started, my hubby and his friend filled up our woodshed, and because men are strangely attracted to firewood, my husband asked that I take a picture of his truck, loaded with wood, and put it on the blog. So here it is honey... just for you! You will now be allowed to sleep back in our bedroom..lol!!! Later that night, after the truck was unloaded, Kevin, his friend, and Eric went grouse/bear hunting, and look what Eric brought back...his first grouse! Kevin proceeded to dissect the poor thing, and its breast is now in my refrigerator (Kev swears that it will taste scrumptious stuffed with dressing or Rice-a-Roni. Feel free to bake that hon!).
Well...I am off to pick up the kids from school. Hope you are all having a good day :)

Congrats on your awards! Its always nice to be appreciated. :)
Tell your hubby that that's some impressive wood he's got there...
Holy smokes that is a lot of wood! I bet you will not have one cold night this winter.
I love the first day of school, but I too, hate the alarm clock. I really do not like getting up at 6 am.
Hard to believe it's back to school time, isn't it? Your kiddos sure had big smiles, though! ;)
I bet you will appreciate that wood this winter when the chilly rains set in! My parents' old place had a fireplace (woodstove) i really miss that! There is nothing like the warmth of a fireplace.
Awwww! The kids look so cute. What will you do with yourself all day now that they're back? Hopefully get in some riding? :)
I remember those school days well. I can't say that I miss them much either. I'm not a morning person and neither are my kids.
Our homeschool day starts after 9am, and we won't start until next Monday. When I was a kid, school didn't start until after Labor Day.
My birthday is (today!) Sept 4th and we always had a big shibang for my birthday and labor day. So to me, labor day and my birthday were the end-of-summer-beginning-of-fall marker.
So, we've still got a few more days of summer going on around here still. hehe
Let me know how that bird tastes cooked up with rice, ok?
Mmm...*cough cough* :D

Oh and I forgot to add....That truckload of wood deserves a big "Ooooooh!!!!"
Man, that is impressive. No wonder hubby asked for a photo. In the case of winter preparation, bigger really is better! :D

Congrats on the first grouse! I can remember my first bird! Oh what fun!
And you know - I share you hubby's attraction to firewood and fire. My hubby doesn't but I do. I was raised with two wood stoves in our house. One upstairs one downstairs. And going to get fire wood was a family affair (except mom mostly). I miss that in our house where we have electric and propane heat.
I am always impressed when I see a neatly stacked big pile of fire wood.
Wowzer, that's a lot of wood! I can't believe school is back in session, it seems like summer just *started*!
Congrats to Little boy Crockett! That is a load of wood now! How neat it is I bet your wood pile is all neat and in a row!
Oh. How. Adorable. I miss my kiddos being little!
Have a great weekend...
Hugs from the Hill Country!
wood wood and more wood!
what the heck is a grouse?
