For Maia...

One of the blogs that I frequent is written by a young woman named Maia, who also happens to be a fellow social worker...so technically I have one more of school before I can call myself a "social worker," but you get my drift. Maia writes about her large, close-knit, family, her job as a social worker, and about her life in general, and I always enjoy her down to earth writing style.Maia's family consists of biological siblings, and adopted siblings, and somehow, they all seem to get along and make the best out of every situation. Unfortunately, one of Maia's sisters died the other day, after a courageous battle against Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia. I won't mention her name, because I have not told Maia that I am writing this post, but just know that she was only 11 years old, and although I did not know her, I felt touched by Maia's love for her sister, and I am deeply sorry that they have all had to go through this. It is never easy when a loved one dies, and no amount of "I'm sorry's" can make the pain go away, but Maia, if you ever happen to read this, I will never forget about your sister, and that is because you have preserved her memory.

There is such a special bond that sisters have. It must be so sad for their family. My thoughts and prayers will go out to Maia and her family.

So sad...it's so very hard to lose loved ones. My prayers are with Maia and her family. Melanie, I think you will make a wonderful social worker because you are a very loving and compassionate woman. Thank you

Oh that is such a tragedy! I am sorry for your friends loss. May time soften the pain and keep her memory strong. God Bless.

Ahhh dang! That just broke my heart - I am running on very little sleep, coming off of my friend losing her mare and a fairly harsh weekend with hubby...so when I ready that she was 11 years old my eye teared up and I hastily wiped my tears.

Even though I don't know her - God does - and i will pray her too tonight.

Seems like there has been so much sadness this fall.
