Houston? We Have a Problem.....

So...I am having great fun reading all of your comments about my post yesterday, and I promise that I will answer your questions....later.

First, I want to see if you can tell what caused me to panic this morning at 7:42 am, as I read the label on the coffee that I grabbed in a mad rush at the store the other day......

It's bad enough that I grabbed the wrong flavor (I usually get the Madison Avenue blend), but do you see what else is wrong here???

Let me see if this helps ya'!!!

Hello???!!!! I grabbed the DECAFFEINATED coffee!!!! What the heck??? Why do they even make that stuff??? LOL!!!

I guess I am making another mad dash to the store, but this time I will take a minute to be sure that the coffee I grab was not mistakenly placed in the wrong slot!!! I usually catch stuff like that, and I cannot believe that I got the wrong blend and decaffeinated. I guess my brain cells are dying or something...lol!!!

Anywho, I can't believe that I am posting two days in a row. It is like I don't have anything better to do or something...lol!!! Talk at you all later!! :)

Ha Ha! Don't mean to laugh at ya, I am not a coffee drinker so I just had to laugh. I figured you were mad because you bought Tully's instead of Starbucks! I just down a Dr Pepper in the morning and I'm good to go!!!

Mellie, decaf doesn't mean NO caf. That's a misconception. Decaf has half the amount of caffeine as regular, so it contains 60 mg of caffeine per 8 oz cup. Comparatively, black tea has less caffeine than that at 20 mg per cup followed by green tea at 5 mg per cup. (A little known fact is that I worked coffee for about 5 years of my life when I was younger). You could always drink twice as much of the decaf or you could save it for when you need a little pick me up some night when you're studying. :)

Nextly, I think you should go to Tumwater and pick up some Raven's Brew. It's an Alaskan brand and they opened a roaster in Tumwater right before I moved down to Lacey. My favorite of their blends is called "Wicked Wolf". I also enjoy "Bruin Blend", which I think has a new name now. It's the yummiest coffee I've found in the last 15 years of coffee drinking.

wv: dismies- Mellie got the dismies when she bought decaf coffee by mistake.

You will get a chuckle out of this...but I drink decaf! ;) I can't handle the caffeine, it usually makes me too jittery. There is a wee little bit of caffeine in decaf, too! I just really like the smell and taste of coffee, I don't need the buzz. Once in a long while I get the caffeine, it won't kill me, but I don't need it, LOL!

I always drink decaf, or "half caf" coffee. I think I get more caffeine than I need in my sodas.

I was going to say that you grabbed whole bean and you don't have a grinder. My bad!

I was going to say the same thing as Val. That you grabbed the whole bean by accident.

I can't drink full caffeine coffee, or I get tummy cramps and feel too jittery...and then can't sleep at night.

Even decaf has a bit of caffeine in it, so you'd be good to go if you drank a few cups. :)

Paint Girl-LOL!!! You just laugh away at me all you want! :)
I alternate between Starbucks and Tull's, but I never alternate between caff and decaf...teeheehee!!!

Oregonsunshine-"dismies!!!" LOL!!! Thanks for the coffee 101, and that coffee in Tumwater sounds delish. Hey...are you familiar with St.Martins University down there in Lacey/Olympia??? I am looking into one of their masters programs.

Pony Girl-You sound like me! I drink it for the smell and taste too, but thankfully I am not sensitive to the caffeine. :)

Val-Yes, whole bean with no grinder would be a major problem, right??? LOL!!!

Lisa-Sorry you are unable to enjoy coffee. I don't drink it past 3:00 or I can't sleep either, :)

I love Tully's too - unfortunately since hubby has been laid off I have had to lay-off the gourmet coffee - so now I only get it when it is on sale.

We have a Bi-Mart up here and the will put it on sale for $3.99 A BAG! Can you believe that? So I will buy it then. If it's not on sale I drink that Seattle Mountain Coffee Costco sells in bulk. Not bad but not Tully's either.

Personally I like the House Blend the best and I like Tully's MUCH better than Starbucks - much much better.

no way! i would have missed that too - it needs to be printed in bright ORANGE warning letters. geez!

but i'd be happy if you just mailed me that bag, cuz i sure to miss tullys. and costco's....

Hi Mellie!

Yes, I'm pretty familiar with St. Marten's. My mother, brother, and sister-in-law are all alumni. A friend of mine's mom used to work there when we were in high school. I could ask if she's still there in the registrar's office. What can I help you with?

I need to set up auto-ship for my Wicked Wolf from Raven's Brew. Remind me next payday, 'kay? (lol)

I do need to come give you coffee lessons, don't I? Or maybe you should come down here and we'll do a coffee tasting in my kitchen. Starbucks? Really? YUCK! The beans are green and then over roasted. I worked for the big box bookstore in Oly that serves Starbucks coffee for about 3 years of my coffee career.

You know that little drive thru coffee place on College just past the roundabout at 45th when you're headed in to town? It's on the left if you're going towards Lacey? They have decent coffee. You should try them!

Oh, I forgot and I meant to tell you. My mom got her Masters in Sociology there are St. Martins. I think my SIL got hers too for accounting there.

I agree!! Why the heck do they even make decaf??? Go figure...I'm a coffee purist and drink it for the caffeine first and flavor and aroma second. Thank you very much!

LOL-The first thing that jumped out at me was the "Whole Bean". I don't have a grinder, so that would have thrown me into a tizzy. Guess I would have had to put some in a bag and pound them so I had coffee-LOL.

On your previous post...girl, are we converting you?;)
I'll let you in on a little secret...If I could have a horse, just to have a horse...I would have an Arabian or an Arabian/QH cross. I LOVE them. Sadly, they are not competitive in my rodeo world. So I am stuck with using(and loving)my big, thick QH's.

Personally, I'm not sure if soundness issues are really the problem with your average QH, but longevity? I think the Arabian beats most QH's hands down in that department. The average Arabian, with decent care often seems to stay perfectly sound and frisky well into their 20's and the majority of QH's have wound down by then and require extra care by that time.

Melanie - my blog says you just posted a new post - but I can't seem to bring it up. Am I crazy or is my computer?........

HA!! I show up late and I have all these great comments to read!
I grind...everyday...I grind!
I like the greasy slick dark beans...all caffeine!NO DECALF for this horselovin'ridin' chick!

I have a freind that went to Costa Rica last year and they tossed and roasted thier own coffee beans. The palce sells Starbucks 75 % of what they use...anbd they themselves call them- "CHAR BUCKS" cause they roast the beans higher...effectively burning them!
Well...on to read up on the QH stuff all all talking about here!

Oh I forgot to say that I discovered a coffee that I'm able to drink without getting those awful tummy cramps....and it even has caffeine (lol!). I'm drinking it right now.

It's by Folgers and is called Simply Smooth. The flavour may not be as good as the gourmet coffees, but I am able to drink an entire pot all by myself without my tummy hurting. lol!

Okay, just the WORD decaf scares me. I don't do whole beans either, lol! I feel for you.

What's even worse is knowing you need to clean your coffeemaker and you keep putting it off and THEN on the morning you so desperately NEED the coffee, it tastes so bitter you spit it out after the first sip! Talk about starting your morning off wrong!
